Exhibition at State Duma (Russian Parliament)

The Bangladesh Embassy, Moscow in participation with the Bangladeshi Businessmen Association “RBCCI”, Moscow organized a two-day exhibition of Bangladeshi handicrafts from 16-17 April 2008 on the occasion of Bengali New Year in the gallery of State Duma (Russian Parliament).

Today, morning Mr. Alexander A. Tyagunov, Member of Parliament and Vice Chairman of Cultural Committee on South Asia inaugurated the exhibition and during his speech, he mentioned: “Duma is a second significant building in Russia, it is extremely difficult to organize such exhibition in this building and he extended his best efforts as his capacity of MP for the 3rd term in Duma and Vice Chairman of the Cultural Committee. He appreciated the initiative of the Embassy of Bangladesh and mentioned that“Bangladesh opened the avenue of such exhibition and it is expected that other South Asian countries will also follow the same and thus “Bangladesh became the pioneer of it”. He also stressed on the development of economy of the two countries through business partnership and said that only economic development could ensure the improvement of the life of the people of two countries. Ms. Rezina Ahmed, Charge d’ Affaires, a.i. Bangladesh Embassy, Moscow and Mr. Rafikul Islam Mia Arzoo, President of Bangladeshi Businessmen Association also spoke on the occasion.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by many MPs, officials of Embassy, officials of State Duma, members of Bangladeshi Businessmen Association and expatriate Bangladeshis residing in Moscow. The Program concluded with the Bangladeshi dances performed by two children and a tea party.

It is expected that about 3000 visitors will visit the Bangladesh exhibition in two days.
